On Track – With Ateliere Creative Technologies
On Track – With Ateliere Creative Technologies
Neither a wise man nor a brave man lies down on the tracks of history to wait for the train of the future to run over him.
-Dwight D. Eisenhower
There is something about trains. Not that I ever was one of the young boys who wanted to be a train conductor, but I can’t hide that the engineer in me is fascinated by the concreteness and power of big machines. They are also often used in metaphors for change and reliability, but also false hope. You know, “the light at the end of the tunnel.” And, while they have been around quite a while, they might also represent the future since they offer a good, sustainable way to travel.
Sustainability is important for Ateliere. We are convinced that the use of modern technology is how we can sustain as an industry but also how we can make the industry more sustainable. This is the reason we signed up as headline sponsor of The Flint Green Line from London to IBC on its virgin voyage. This media industry event encourages sustainable travel to trade shows.
I also like TV Game Shows!
So, when brainstorming about what we could do at IBC to showcase our pioneering technology driving sustainability in broadcast production while also making it a bit fun, I got the chance to become a game show host myself!
The format is a little inspired by Sweden’s most popular TV game show ever, “På Spåret” (“On Track” in English), but the show also works as a continuation of The Green Line ride and obviously as a metaphor for the industry as a whole. As the broadcast and TV industry faces bigger and more multi-dimensional changes than ever, a pretty good question is this: are we on track?
Hence the title: “On Track – With Ateliere Creative Technologies.”
Now. While we should expect Ateliere to be on the cutting edge of technology, leading the industry in new directions, little did we imagine we would also inspire the content side of our business! Roughly two months after shooting these episodes, BBC Studios has shared we will see more game and quiz shows in 2025 and beyond! More on that covered in this excellent article by industry colleague and guest interviewee, Tommy Flanagan at Rethink Research: https://rethinkresearch.biz/articles/bbc-studios-says-game-shows-are-flying-as-new-formats-pay-off/.
Thus, we’re looking forward to releasing Tommy’s episode as the premiere episode of “On Track with Ateliere Creative Technologies” next week!
The game show sequence is at the very end of the episode, but before getting to that segment where we test our guests’ movie knowledge, we will cover important industry topics. In Tommy’s episode, this includes the future of the traditional TV format (shout out to format developers at BBC Studios, do not miss this!), as well as IF and HOW the interactivity of the internet has a role to play!
The following episodes will cover a wide range of our industry's most important topics. So, make sure to mark the following Tuesdays in your calendar! We will of course remind you, but below you will find the schedule and the fantastic guests we had the pleasure of hosting on our show.
