CNN Job Cuts Are A Painful Reminder Of Where TV News Is Heading

Forbes writes about CNN’s announcement that 200 of their employees are being let go, as well as 6% of their cable-side production staff, even though they are hiring for new positions in digital media. This is an eye-opening reminder that what worked in the news business decades ago isn’t working in today's world.
“With large operators like CNN, part of the challenge to innovation is their legacy: The way they do things, the systems, the processes, the culture,” said Dan Goman, CEO of Ateliere, which provides back-end content services for dozens of media companies. “These are the things we run into with every large content company we deal with. That's also something CNN have to contend with as they're working to become this digital first entity. It's a difficult process, and it doesn't happen in one day."
